Aidan Catriel

Game Developer • Narrative Designer

I'm a Montreal student pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science with a passion for game design and storytelling. I'm also the founder of WhySo Studios, where I create indie VR games. Ask me about our upcoming project Dark Star!

More than simply developing their code, I love designing games. Fun game mechanics, unique features and a story that ties it all together — that's what I'm here for.

Others

Not every project I've worked on is worth showcasing to peers and recruiters. Whether through lack of time or experience, they can't compare to those above. Still, these represent important milestones in my journey as a game developer, and they deserve some mention.

  • Campfire Queue (January 2024): A data visualisation project made for ConUHacks VIII. It won its category!

  • Amouti's Journey (November 2023): A small puzzle/action platformer concept. Not a success, but it was a valuable lesson in coordinating large teams and scoping projects before they begin.

  • Countdown (June 2023): Created for the 30-day MVM20 game jam. A short 3D metroidvania and my first major Unity project.

  • The Walk (January 2023): Made for the 2023 New Year Game Jam. An infinitely-scrolling, semi-interactive screensaver.

  • Circle (Jan 2021— Jan 2023): My first proper game, an infinite arena shooter with a geometry bent and generated enemies. Music by yours truly.
